Airtel Nigeria is a leading mobile network provider that constantly innovates to improve its services for customers. One recent development is the introduction of a new code to check data balance, making it easier for customers to keep track of their data usage.
Why the new code?
This development was to honour the directives of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to begin the implementation of harmonized short codes (HSC). Aim to have uniform service codes with other networks.
This means that the code to check the data balance on Airtel will also be the same code to check the data balance on MTN, Airtel, Glo, and other mobile network operators (MNOs).
Easy & Harmonized Code to Check Your Data Balance
Previously, customers had to dial *140# to check their data balance, but with the new code, checking your data balance has become harmonious and much easier. To check your Airtel data balance, simply dial *323# on your mobile phone. A pop-up notification will be displayed on your screen saying “Dear customer, you will receive an SMS with your data balance details shortly”. Upon receiving the SMS, open your message inbox and view the message to see your available data balance.
What is next about the new and old code to check data balance?
NCC sets May 17th, 2023 as the deadline for Airtel alongside other mobile network operators (MNOs) to fully migrate to the new harmonized short codes (HSC) for its service. This means that the old code for checking Airtel data balance may be discontinued after the deadline. The period between now and May 17, 2023, is provided by the NCC to enable telecom consumers to familiarise themselves with the new codes for various services.
*323# is now the official code to check data balance on Airtel Nigeria.
